- Get Your Own Broker. Do not
call the numbers on signs or in real estate books. Those agents have
been hired by the Seller to represent the Seller, it is the agent's
responsibility to do everything possible to serve their client's best
interests. The Seller has independent representation, you as the Buyer
deserve it also. For many people, purchasing a home is the single
largest investment that they will make. Can you afford not to have
someone working exclusively FOR you?

- Do Research. In this day and
age information is everywhere (you found some here). Check on the
schools, check/follow
interest rates, know your credit, understand HOA and Mello-Roos
payments and how they affect the home you can afford.
- Get Pre-Approved.
Prequalification is a
step in the right direction, but to truly get the best deal on the
home that you can best afford preapproval is the only way to go.
